Like all mole catchers, I spend the majority of my time outside in the field, all seasons, all weathers, covering all types of ground 365 days of the year.
Over the years I’ve worn several brands and types of boots/wellies, the last few years I’ve found the three types of boots I prefer for each type of ground/weather + some of the brands I’ve found the most reliable, than others so thought I would share.
Meindl Bhutan MFS £220.00
The Meindl Bhutan is my everyday boot, mainly used when I’m bouncing from small jobs with lots of travel, the boots are lightweight so ideal for driving with amazing support from the MFS system, not to mention the fact they are like slippers whilst keeping my feet warm and dry 100%.
Meindl Dovre Extreme GTX – wide Boots £279.99
The Meindl Dovre is used on big jobs where I’m based in one location with miles of walking, they provide the ultimate support and keep you warm and dry 100%. These boots also keep my trousers dry when tucked in unlike to ankle boots.
Harkila Norse 18 Inch 3mm H-Vent Wellingtons (Men’s) Dark Olive £150.00
The Harkila welly is used on really damp days or jobs that are waterlogged, whilst they are the most comfortable welly I’ve ever worm, the protection from the cold temperatures is not great when out in the field after 5+hrs in the winter months, but ok with some decent socks.
These are also ideal for the quick trap check on residential jobs 🙂
I’ve used many suppliers, and I’ve always found Bushwear and Uttings to be the most reliable and well priced see links to their websites below.
